1.Director
Prof. Guihua Zhuang is the Dean of School of Public Health at Xi'an Jiaotong University Health Science Center, Director of the Center of Infectious Disease Prevention and Control of Xi’an Jiaotong University Global Health Institute, Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory of Trace Elements and Endemic Diseases of the National Health Commission and Vice President of Shaanxi Provincial Preventive Medicine Association. His research interests include epidemiology of infectious diseases, health and health economics evaluation, and disease control and health promotion. He has led and participated in sever major national or provincial research projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation and international cooperative grant，the 11th and 12th Five-Year Plan projects in infectious diseases like AIDS and viral hepatitis. At present, he and his research team lead the health economics evaluation in the project of prospective evaluation study of screening for upper gastrointestinal cancer which is funded by the National Health and Family Planning Commission. He had published more than 100 papers in international peer-reviewed journals such as Hepotology.
2. Mission and Goals
By gathering the existing manpower, experiments, bases, and information resources of Xi'an Jiaotong University in the prevention, basic, and clinical research of infectious diseases, and recruiting talents, to the Center is forming a strong research team and high-quality scientific research platform with close ties, complementary advantages, resource sharing, and concerted efforts. Aiming at the national “Belt and Road” development strategic needs, the international frontier of infectious disease prevention and research, strive for major scientific research projects, extensively carry out extensive cross-regional and cross-disciplinary research on the prevention and treatment of major and emerging infectious diseases, rapidly improve our innovative capacity and competitiveness in the field of infectious disease prevention and treatment, and provide scientific and technological support for the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases at the national and local levels.

1)Research on prevention and treatment of major infectious diseases such as AIDS, viral hepatitis and tuberculosis
2)Basic, clinical, preventive, predictive and early warning research on emerging infectious diseases
