1. Director
Prof. Hong Yan, the Vice President of Xi’an Jiaotong University is responsible for medical education and the President of the Health Science Center. He has 30-year experience in prevention and control of birth defects, public nutrition, health promotion management and statistics of population health. As a leading researcher, he has led and engaged in more than 20 major research projects supported by the Natural Science Foundation of China, the Ministry of Health, the UN Children’s Fund and the European Union. Prof. Yan has published over 200 papers in top SCI journals such as British Medical Journal, International Journal of Epidemiology, JAMA Pediatric, Pediatrics, etc. And he supervised 75 master and PhD students. One of his supervised doctoral dissertations has been selected as the National 100 Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award Nomination.
2.Mission and Goals
We will build a research platform for chronic disease prevention and control that combines the multi-disciplinary forces of public health, clinical medicine, basic medicine, health policy, etc., and carry out research on epidemic laws, etiology, pathogenesis and prevention and control strategies for chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, obesity, birth defects and public health problems that seriously affect the health of people in Western China and the world. We focus on the issues related to the chronic disease around the world, and make full use of the unique disease and population cothort resources in the Silk Road region, develop international partners for global chronic disease research, carry out in-depth international scientific research cooperation, and promote the improvement of people's health level in China and other countries.
