The Global Health Institute (GHI) was formally established on September 18, 2016. GHI has eight research centers, including Center for Systems Science and Health Big Data, Center for Chronic Diseases Control and Prevention, Center for Infectious Disease Control and Prevention, Center for Endemic Disease, Center for Nutrition and Food Safety, Center for Aging Health and Geriatrics, China-Australia Joint Research Center for Infectious Diseases, XJTU-UCL Joint Research Center for Molecular Medicine and Endemic Disease, and will develop more centers in the future. Xi’an Jiaotong University established the GHI aiming to help achieve China’s key national development strategies, including China’s National Innovation-driven Development Strategy, “Belt and Road Initiative”, National Health & Wellness Congress and “Healthy China 2030”. GHI will be part of the efforts in the establishment of the iHarbour and the development of Xi’an Jiaotong University becoming a world-class university. GHI benefits from the various strengths of XJTU, including public health, clinical and basic medicine, pharmacy, mathematics, statistics, bioinformatics, management, humanities, and engineering.
