Teaching, research achievements, patents, and publishing
1)He mainly teaches the lessons of "Epidemiological Methods of Environmental and Gene Interaction" and "Molecular basic of Bone and cartilage", and have trained 122 PhD, MS, MPH and international students.
2)He has studied the diagnosis, etiology, pathogenesis, prevention and control of Kashin-Beck disease for more than 40 years. He was awarded the State Council Special Allowance Expert in 2001 and Sanqin Talents of Shaanxi in 2013.
3)He is currently the deputy director of Key Laboratory of Trace Elements and Endemic Diseases（Xi’an Jiaotong University）, National Health and Family Planning Commission of the People's Republic of China, and the director of Collaborative Innovation Center of Endemic Diseases and Health Promotion in Silk Road Region（Xi’an Jiaotong University）as well as Endemic Disease Research Center, Institute of Global Health, Xi'an Jiaotong University. Meanwhile, he is the vice chairman of the Endemic Disease Professional Committee in the National Health Standards Committee of the People's Republic of China, and the member of the Endemic Disease Professional Committee of the National Health Planning Committee's Disease Control Committee. He is also the editor-in-chief of the "Foreign Medical Geography" Journal and deputy chief editor of journals including "Chinese Journal of Endemiology", "Chinese Journal of Control of Endemic Diseases" et al.
4)He has presided over 30 key projects supported by NSFC, and international cooperation projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the National Natural Science Foundation, and chaired the amendment of the national medical standard of "Assessment for Therapeutic Efficacy on Kashin-Beck Disease (WS/T 79-2011)”. He mainly jointed the study in Key projects supported by the National Science and Technology Department of the People's Republic of China during the period from "National 6th Five-Year Plan" to "National 8th Five-Year Plan" in China. He has published 286 academic papers, of which 86 were included by SCI as the first or corresponding author. Two of them were selected as cover papers by famous journals in this field, and one was recommended as "F1000 thesis".
5)He has received 1 national invention patent.
6)He has won 2 prizes on science of the technology prize of Shaanxi Provincial Government (as the first or third contributor), and got more than 10 awards such as Beijing Science and Technology Award (the Second and Third Class).
7)He is the Editor-in-Chief of the books including <Molecular Biology and Clinical Application of Cartilage> and <The Foundation and Application of Molecular Biology of Endemic Diseases>, co-editor of the books including <Diagnosis of Kashin-Beck Disease> and <Selenium and Kashin-Beck disease>, one chapter of <The Chemistry, Analysis, Functions and Effects of Selenium(English) >, as well as other 8 books.
