1. Director

Prof. Lei Zhang, PhD, doctoral supervisor, is the director of the China-Australia Joint Research Center for Infectious Diseases.He is a recipient ofXi’an Jiaotong University Young Talent Support Program. He is a visiting Associate Professor at Monash University, Australia, and a technical consultant for the World Health Organization, Western Pacific Region. His research interests include infectious diseases, epidemiology of chronic diseases, health economics, and medical artificial intelligence.


2. Missions and Goals

With support from School of Public Health,China-Australia Joint Research Center for Infectious Diseasescollaborate closely with major health and research institutions around the world. By integrating the superior resources from multidisciplinary research and the medical industry, the center aims to integrate theoretical epidemiology, mathematical modeling, big data and artificial intelligence for solve important public health issue in China and abroad. We could create and design early warning mechanisms, prediction models and economic evaluation for epidemics of infectious and chronic diseases and public health emergencies. This research center is strategically located at Xi’an, the major economic and technology hub in West China. However, its research interests cover the rest of country and world. We endeavor to set up a collaboration platform with top international research teams through our excellent research achievements. Our research outcomes will provide powerful technical and evidence supports for national and international public health policymakers.
