Date:2020-01-19 Source: Visits:

Dr. Alice F. Yan’s research focuses on eliminating health disparities in minority populations through Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR), and applied translational research. Her research is characterized by tailored health promotion and chronic disease prevention interventions (e.g., exercise, and dietary changes) that incorporate effective health communication strategies (including mHealth) and health behavior theories. She applies a multidisciplinary approach to investigating the impact of social and environmental factors on individual risk perceptions, health behaviors (e.g., physical activity, food/nutrition), and other health outcomes (e.g., obesity, diabetes, and cancer) in underserved minority populations. Dr. Yan’s research also includes large database management, data mining for clinical trials, and program evaluation. Statistical methodologies applied in her studies include hierarchical linear modeling (HLM), structural equation modeling (SEM), survival analysis, complex sample survey data analysis, and spatial analysis.
